Konnyaku is a traditional jelly-like Japanese health food which is made from konnyaku root. It does not contain many calories, fats and is rich in fiber. The product can be used in soups stewes, oden etc – the flavor of other foods gets sucked into it while cooking. Konnyaku should be parboiled before adding to a recipe though to remove extra lime and make the texture more chewy.
